Breastfeeding Support on The Upper West Side

Breastfeeding provides essential nutrition for infants from birth to one year and older. As recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, we encourage exclusive breastfeeding for approximately 6 months followed by continued breastfeeding with complementary foods for at least 2 years and beyond as mutually desired. At Westside Pediatrics, we respect each family’s feeding decision and recognize the need to support parents’ efforts for the entirety of their feeding journey.

Our board-certified lactation consultants, Suzanne Bussetti, RN, MSN, CPNP, IBCLC, and Nicole Mann, MD, CLC can work with you to design an achievable breastfeeding plan in a supportive environment. In-person and virtual appointments are available to assist you with:

  • Positioning your baby at the breast
  • Latching
  • Caring for your breasts and nipples
  • Assessing milk transfer
  • Assuring adequate nutrition
  • Assembling and using a breast pump, including sizing for the right size flange
  • Storing milk
  • Returning to work/school while breastfeeding
  • Traveling and breastfeeding
  • Bottle feeding while breastfeeding
  • Teething while breastfeeding
  • Breastfeeding premature babies
  • Managing slow weight gain babies
  • Breastfeeding multiple infants
  • Breastfeeding babies with special medical needs.
